Frequently Asked Question

What should I bring on a club walk?

Wear sturdy walking boots, comfortable layered clothing and a waterproof jacket. Bring water, a snack or lunch, hat and gloves (depending on the season), and any personal medication. For longer or higher walks, we also recommend a small backpack, extra layers and a headtorch.

No. Our walks are graded A, B and C so you can choose the level that suits your current fitness and experience. Start with an easier C walk if you’re new to hillwalking and build up to B or A walks as your confidence improves.

You can try a couple of walks first to see if the club is right for you. After that, simply complete our membership form and pay the annual fee, which includes Mountaineering Ireland insurance. Full details and the form are available on our Club Information page.

Most walks meet in Bandon or another agreed meeting point where we organise car-pooling to the start of the route. The walk notice will always include the meeting time and location, plus the leader’s contact details if you have any questions.
